Ripley Running Club was proud to have two of their best runners selected to run for Derbyshire in the Inter County Cross Country Championships, which were held on Sunday.
This representative race took place in the picturesque setting of Cofton Park in Birmingham.
A muddy and challenging course greeted the runners on their arrival, leaving them in no doubt as to the size of the task ahead of him.
Ripley Running Club’s Dean Taylor managed a superb run, finishing fourth for Derbyshire, in a race where the first six runners in a team of nine counted towards the overall score.
He finished 254th in a field of 290 of the best cross country runners in the country.
Fiona Alexander represented herself and Ripley very well in the Ladies race.
She was a very late call-up into the team covering for injury.
On the day she finished seventh for Derbyshire, and 281st overall out of 291.
n Ripley Running Club is a very small friendly club, which meets at 6.45pm every Tuesday evening at Ripley Leisure centre.
Everyone is welcome to come along and run, regardless of ability, whether you’re a jogger or a competitive runner.
The club has a busy running calendar and also holds a number of social events throughout the course of the years.
