Amber Valley Hornets’ second team - informally known as the Bees - are celebrating after winning the Derbyshire Hockey League’s Division Three.

Going into the away fixture against Matlock Fifths, the Bees needed a victory to earn promotion to Derbyshire Hockey League’s Division Two.

The Ripley-based team started strongly. Confidently passing the ball around, they created a number of good chances.

The first goal arrived on 15 minutes with Karen Garner and then daughter Jaimie making it 2 – 0 just before halftime.

Not content with that scoreline, the Bees went out in the second half to put the game to bed as quickly as possible.

First up, Helen Charlton fired home a super strike from a short-corner routine.

Goals four, five and six followed from Christie Parkin, Caroline Scott and then Karen Garner with her second of the game.

Matlock held some attacking threat themselves but Kate Vincent was excellent in running out to defend three short corners and summed up an all round fantastic team performance.

The Bees remain undefeated this season with a final score of 6-0.
