Ripley Runing Club members were out in force at the recent Matthew Walker 10K Christmas Pudding Run, held in and around Shipley Park.
The Heanor RC-organised event had almost 900 finishers on the day.
Ripley RC club captain and veteran over 50s runner Karl Tietz led the team home with a fine 138th place, closely followed by new member and also vet 50 runner David Price 148th/45.16.
Wayne Yearwood, a youthful 40-something, was next in 189th place in a time of 46.37 preceding yet another male 50, Jerry Bateman, 205th/47.08.
Another newcomer to Ripley RC, David Barrett, in his first season with the club, was next, still well in the top half of this impressive field, finishing 384th/51.49 while Thea Highfield returned to racing after a considerable break and achieved the fantastic time of 55.54/501st place.
Not wishing to point out a ladies age, but Lorraine Griffiths, who has been running for Ripley RC for 20 years, and is therefore well into the supervet category, ran consistently, as ever finishing in the top five of her LV55 category for 506th/56.06.
The final two Ripley men to finish were Rob Swift and Mark Taylor, just outside the magic 60 minutes for the 6.2 miles. Ripley lady Dawn Beresford, racing her first ever 10k, can be very proud of her debut run time of 66.39 for 792nd place.
Ripley Running Club meets every Tuesday at 6.45pm at RIpley Leisure Centre and encourages runners of all abilities to come and join them for a run.
