Mixed afternoon for Butterley Utd

Butterley United 1sts lost their Derbyshire County Cricket League Division 8N game to Belper Amateurs on Saturday by 65 runs.

Amateurs won the toss and decided to bat first.

They eventually compiled a total of 241-7 from their 46 overs.

Anthony Boucher opened the innings for Belper Amateurs and he top scored with 68.

Nick Rowton provided him with sterling support, adding 58 runs to the total.

Jamie Turner was the other main contributor with 44.

For Butterley United, Harry Gee and Robert Swift took two wickets each.

In reply, Butterley, lost Charlie Buxton early on but his fellow opener Robert Swift proved to be the star of the innings for the visitors, eventually departing for a sparkling 95.

Callum West was the second top scorer with 26 but no-0ne else got past 15 as wickets fell on a regular basis.

In the end, Butterley United were bowled out for 176 in 34 overs to lose the game by 65 runs.

Pip Nightingale and Alex Cutts took three wickets each for Belper Amateurs.

Butterley United 2nds enjoyed a better afternoon in Division 10N, handing out a thrashing to opponents Darley Dale 3rds.

Darley Dale won the toss and asked their hosts to bat first.

Michael Richards hit 13 fours at the top of the order in his knock of 75 for Butterley.

Dean Kenney hit 54 not out off 58 balls, including five fours and two sixes.

Butterley United skipper David Arrowsmith also chipped in with a quick 22 at the end of the innings to take them to a final total of 199-5 off 46 overs.

For Darley Dale, Kevin Thompson took 2-11 from a miserly ten overs.

Then, Butterley turned in an irresistible bowling display to dismiss Darley Dale for just 45 in 15.1 overs, earning a win by 154 runs.

Only Ashley Mays, with 25, managed to get into double figures as the rest of his colleagues found the going extremely tough in the face of some excellent Butterley bowling.

Robert Powdrill took a superb 5-6 off eight overs and Dean Kenney an impressive 5-10 off 4.1 overs.
