Marehay CC 1sts’ relegation from the Derbyshire Premier League was confirmed at the weekend after a draw with Lullington Park in their final game of the season.
Lullington Park won the toss and decided to ask their hosts to bat first .
Marehay compiled a competitive total of 219-5 from their 50 overs.
Ben Gartside hit an attacking 45 off 46 balls at the top of the innings to get Marehay off to a brisk start.
Matthew Bailey and Gaz Buckley went cheaply but Robert Peat rose to occasion with an fine knock of 96 not out from 126 balls, including seven fours and four sixes.
He was well supported by James Kyte, who made a patient 47.
For Lullington Park, Daniel Gough took three wickets.
Lullington Park lost two early wickets to give Marehay hopes of securing a victory but there was resistance from Martin Walter in particular with 86 as he helped his side to draw the game, finishing on 179-7.
James Kyte completed afine all-round performance with two wickets. Ben Perry-Taylor also claimed two wickets.
