Marehay CC 1sts are back on top of the Derbyshire County Cricket League Division One after two wins on consecutive days at the weekend.
On Saturday, Richard Wood’s side were at third-placed Duffield and came away with a two-wicket win in a tight game.
Duffield batted first and were restricted to 168-9 from 50 overs, largely due to a fine spell of spin bowling from Gaz Buckley, who took 5-52.
Also among the wickets was Matthew Doric with 2-41.
Marehay had to work hard for their win, losing eight wickets along the way, but there was a good contribution of 64 from James Kyte.
Then, on Sunday, Marehay were at Stainsby Hall to play their game in hand and made it count to win by six wickets.
Stainsby Hall batted first and were dismissed for 157 in the 50th over.
Skipper and opener Tom Wood top scored with 61 and for Marehay Matthew Doric took 4-23 and Gaz Buckley made it nine wickets in the weekend with figures of 4-28.
In reply, Marehay lose Stephen Lee to the first ball of the innings but recovered well through 36 from Daniel Palmer, 31 from Jonathan Bradder, 39 not out from Matthew Doric and 37 not out from Ben Perry -Taylor.
Victory was achieved in the 38th over and these two wins mean that Marehay are now 16 points clear of Alfreton with seven games left to play.
This Saturday, Marehay are athome to Clifton.
