Marehay CC 1sts gave themselves of staving off relegation from the Derbyshire Premier League by beating Dunstall on Saturday.

With only one game to play, second bottom Marehay are 21 points behind Lullington Park, who have a game in hand on them.

On Saturday, Marehay won the toss and decided to bowl, which turned out to be an excellent move as they bowled out their visitors for just 106 in 49.4 overs.

Openers James Benstead (20) and Andy Malkin (32) got them off to a good start but once they were dismissed, there was very little resistance as the Marehay bowlers got to work and dismissed them at regular intervals.

Ben Gartside and Lewis Palmer were the star performers with the ball for Marehay. Gartside returned the superb figures of 6-21 from 15 overs while Palmer took 4-18 from 13.4 overs.

Marehay then batted well to reach their target for the loss of only three wickets and earn their second league win of the season.

Opener Matthew Bailey was the mainstay of the innings with a patient 43 runs from 83 balls.

Gaz Buckley scored 19, Jonathan Bradder 19 not out and Robert Peat 15 not out as the total was reached in the 33rd over.
