Winning draw for fourths

DENBY CC fourths visited Swanwick Hall seconds for their season debut and took 14 points from a winning draw after being put into bat.

In the Denby innings of 134 for 9 Mick Bott top scored with 27 with other scores in the twenties coming from Dave Cherry, Joe Cherry and Ian Sherwood.

Swanwick got away to a good start posting 44 before the first wicket fell but from then on it was all downhill.

Joe Cherry bowled an impressive 14 over spell taking 4 for 20 and with brother Ross keeping things tight at the other end Swanwick opted for the safety of a winning draw at 103 for 6 wickets.

The team will be hoping to keep up this good start when they travel to Morton Colliery seconds on Saturday.
