Ripley Town are on the hunt for an assistant manager and some general matchday help as they look forward with optimism to the forthcoming Midlands Regional Alliance season.
They also have four pre-season games lined up before they begin their MRA Division One campaign on August 16.
These matches start with a fixture on July 24 (6.45pm) at Swanwick Pentrich Road when the two teams contest for the new David ‘Taddy’ Walters Shield, which the clubs hope will become an annual event.
This will be followed by games at Pastures on July 26, South Wingfield on August 2 and Sandiacre Town on August 9.
Manager Paul Lavender explained: “Division One of the MRA has been expanded from 10 to 14 sides this season so we’re looking forward to getting started again.
“We are putting together a decent side on the pitch.
“Compared to this time last year, things are looking really good and I’m very happy with how it’s shaping up.
“We’ve also had the recent good news from the borough council about the money being made available to improve pitches in the area so that’s good to hear.
“The council are being very supportive of us and it’s been positive dealing with them.
“We’re now on the lookout for an assistant manager, plus some general matchday help.
“Ideally, the assistant manager will be someone with experience and knowledge of the local football scene and who wants to get involved.”
Paul concluded: “We had a sticky start to last season, struggling to get players in, but I brought James Dennis in to help with training, he brought a few players with him, and from being bottom early on and losing first six games, we ended up going joint top at Christmas.
“But then we had ten weeks without a game due to the wet weather and after that it took a while to get back into it, although we picked up at the end and ended up beating all of the top four teams, so there’s plenty to build on as we go into the new season.”
