Six-a-side teams ready for the off

The new six-a-side league organised by soccersixes kicked off this week in Belper with 12 teams taking part and the event being branded a big success by teams, referees and event management staff.

The league is being held weekly at Belper Meadows Sports Club.

Grading games took place for teams to be entered into divisions of their own standard. The league officially kicks off next week with two divisions of eight teams. The league now has just three spaces still available.

The results from the grading games were: Heiniken 4-0 Lionface, Clubhouse 4-1 Egmon Homes, Brazil 2-1 Rag of The UK, FC Chronic 3-0 Rag, JD United 0-6 RJS, Strollers 0-5 Blades.

Soccersixes’ Chris Murphy commented on the grading game night. “We could not have wished for it to have operated more smoothly than it did.

“12 teams turned up, the games were played in good spirit and refereed by top quality FA officials. We were surprised at the number of spectators, there must have been in all over 500 people at league event! The league kicks off for real next week and we are sure, for the next 14 weeks of the season, the event will be a focal point as so many people seem interested.”

Soccersixes.net website is now up and running where teams can view there updated fixtures, league tables, match reports and all league news. The website is updated daily and teams can even have theIR own teams profile on there and team photo.

New qualified and registered referee Phillip Chatham commented: “Three referees attended, the organisation was excellent, the teams all enjoyed the grading night and the games went well. Now the league starts for real, I can see it being very exciting. We are now looking forward to next week it should be a pleasure to referee and lets hope all the teams enjoy it and play in a fine spirit for the whole season.”
