Recent weeks have seen various members of Ripley Running Club taking part in off-road challenges.

The Hathersage Hustle was a tough and extremely hilly 10k fell run consisting of a three-mile climb and a three- mile descent looking over the breathtaking views of Derbyshire.

Taking part were Dean Taylor (4th place, 46.51) and Lisa Cashmore (46th place, 1.20.42)

Ripley RC were in the top four finishers at the Tunnels & Trails 10k with Luke Beresford finishing first (36.35) Ian Duffin finishing third (38.18) and Ryan Ball finishing fourth (39.29).

Just a few minutes later, Dennis Holmes crossed the line in 17th place (42.33)

The 3 Lakes Classic saw Richard Phillis and Wayne Smithurst complete in 1.55.17 and 1.55.18 respectively.

A warm day had them both running a 15-mile route, mainly flat until around nine miles when they hit the hills.

A team of Ripley members also ran the pretty but challenging Riber Run. The route was just over four miles, starting at Lea Green, running up to Riber Castle and back again, through narrow stoney paths, woodland, across streams.

The team finished as follows: Luke Beresford (34.27) Tom Powis (35.38) Matthew Brennan (39.02) Simon English (39.07) Lucy Taylor (41.26) Carl Hopkinson (43.30) Esther Broughton (48.09) Bill Powis (49.25) Alison Butlin (52.53) Mike Corrigan (56.21) Lisa Cashmore (101.47) Antoinette Franco (104.14)

The Bakewell Pudding Run had a great turnout from Ripley.

The 10k course had them running up hills hurtling back down again on a course which was a mixed terrain of off-road tracks, woodlands, fields and a river crossing.

Times as follows: Luke Beresford (40.53) Matt Jones (43.11) Dean Taylor (43.40) Wayne Smithurst (48.09) Simon English (48.16) Dennis Holmes (48.18) Richard Phillis (49.25) Lucy Taylor (50.55) Carl Hopkinson (52.10) Alison Butlin (62.440 Mike Corrigan (65.38)

And finally, representing Ripley at the Clumber Park Half Marathon, were Lisa Cashmore and Lisa Watson. Lisa Cashmore finished her debut half marathon in 2.13.06 while Lisa Watson finished in 2.13.15.

The weather was pleasingly cool, who took on the picturesque trails of the park.
