Get on the ball at ‘pay and play’ sessions

Men and women who would like to try basketball for the first time or get back into the sport are being invited to new weekly ‘pay and play’ sessions at Ripley Leisure Centre.

The coaching sessions will give an introduction to the sport for men and women aged 15 or over every Friday evening.

Sessions will cost £3 per person per session, and will run from 6pm to 7pm from Friday, January 25.

Anyone who would like to go along can turn up on the evening or register their interest by contacting Derbyshire basketball development officer Lucy Willets at lucy.willets@lincolnshiresports.co.uk

No experience is needed and men and women of all abilities are welcome. No basketball kit is required, just sports clothing and trainers.

Lucy Willets said: “These sessions are open to men and women of all abilities, whether you have never played basketball before or want to get back into a sport you used to enjoy. Come along and give it a go.”

Sessions will be delivered by level two qualified basketball coach Barish Salih, from the Derby Trailblazers Basketball Club.

Barish said: “Basketball is a fantastic sport, it’s great fun and easy to get into. The sessions in Ripley will be sociable and informal, great for new players.”
