Businesses across Amber Valley are being urged to help staff enjoy a more active and healthy 2014 by joining the Derbyshire Workplace Challenge.

The initiative is being launched in Derbyshire as part of a nationwide workplace fitness programme, which will see employees battle it out to win points for their company or organisation by taking part in a sport or physical activity of their choice, at times and venues to suit their lifestyle.

Anyone can sign up to the Workplace Challenge for free at www.workplacechallenge.org.uk/derbyshire and can earn points by logging details of any sport or physical activity they take part in. Each time an activity such as walking, cycling or swimming is logged via the website, points will be earned, with prizes to be won.

Angela Kirkham, active lifestyles development officer at Derbyshire Sport, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response to the Derbyshire Workplace Challenge with more than 400 people already signed up and starting to register activity, and we are delighted that some of Derbyshire’s business leaders are taking on the challenge.”
