Four goals for Connor in derby

Holbrook Sports u16s 4

Belper Town u16s 3

Holbrook Sports U16s continued their winning start to the league season with a 4-3 victory over local rivals Belper Town.

In a game of contrasting styles, the home team went ahead early in the first half with a fine finish from Connor Bradley after an excellent through ball from Ryan Jackson.

The remainder of the half was a little scrappy with chances at both ends. Town, however, managed to draw level shortly before the break.

The second half had a lot more quality with Sports playing the expansive passing game while Town persisted with the long ball option. It was Holbrook who seized the initiative with Bradley’s second after some nice build-up play.

Town then pulled one back after a long punt downfield fell nicely for the Belper striker. Undeterred, the Brookies continued with their game plan, only to go a goal behind.

The deficit only served to spur on the home side with Attwater, Johnson and Whitehead controlling the midfield and it was neat interplay between the three which set up Bradley’s and Sports’ third.

The visitors put everyone behind the ball but the home side were not to be denied and, with a minute left on the clock, man of the match Connor Bradley got his fourth and deciding goal.
