Double defeat for Shipley Hall CC

Shipley Hall suffered two heavy defeats in both the league and Village Cup competition at the weekend.

After a much-improved performance the previous week when all of the team members played well, it was a major disappointment for the team to be beaten twice.

Saturday saw league action at Aston and having lost the toss once again, Shipley’s batsmen were skittled out for just 56.

Only Mark Starr (17), Martin Starr (10) and Graham Farnsworth (10) reached double figures.

The Aston bowlers had a field day with Aslam taking 4 for 23, Hussain 3 for 18, R Ali 2 for 10 and A Ali 1 for 3.

When Aston batted, Tom Starr enjoyed a tidy spell, taking 1 for 7 in his five overs.Scott Parkin and Josh Torr also took a wicket eatch but Aston romped to victory with just three wickets down.

On Sunday Shipley entertained Walton-on-Trent at home in the Village Cricket competition.

Walton batted first but the Shipley bowlers never let their batsmen settle. Danny Hanson enjoyed an excellent spell and took 5 for 15, with Graham Farnsworth grabbing a couple, and Tom Starr, Scott Parkin and Ryan North each claiming a wicket as Walton were all out for 137.

But Shipley’s batsmen again failed to perform as they were all out for 82, Josh Torr (14), Neil Parkin (18) and Rob Cokayne (12) the top scorers.
