Lions change friendly plans

by Stan Wilton

Changes have been made to Heanor Town FC’s pre-season schedule.

Instead of going to Central Midlands League side Parkhouse on Saturday, July 16, the Lions will now visit Staveley Miners Welfare for a traditional 3pm kick off.

And the open date on Saturday, July 23 has now been filled with a visit to Central Midlands League neighbours Pinxton, kick off 3pm.

These games, however, must still be regarded as provisional because permission has not yet been received from the Derbyshire FA for them to go ahead.

Meanwhile, the Lions have filled their vacant physiotherapist position following the stepping down of Beverley Thompson.

Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist David Hoole has been appointed following recommendation by Miss Thompson.

David, a former professional footballer with Chesterfield FC, Alfreton Town, Matlock Town, Sheffield FC and Staveley Miners Welfare is 41 and hails from Grassmoor.
