James Kyte continued his fine form on Saturday as Marehay consolidated their position at the top of the DCCL Division One.
In a low-scoring game, Kyte bagged a six-wicket haul for the visitors as Ilkeston Rutland were beaten by four wickets.
His early and explosive burst of bowling saw him take five wickets for two runs in 13 balls at one stage, including a hat-trick, meaning Marehay were in the ascendancy very soon after the game had started.
Batting first, Ilkeston openers David Smit and John Trueman were initially able to weather the new ball spell of Kyte and Matt Doric.
Smit was then bowled middle stump by Doric and his dismissal heralded a clatter of wickets as six more fell for the addition of just six runs.
Kyte took two wickets in his next over and then followed this up in the following over by claiming John Trueman, Luke Marriott and Damian Jones in his hat-trick.
In the blink of an eye, Rutland were 47-7 and eventually made it to 77 all out as Kyte returned figures of 6-33.
Doric took 3-30 and provided fine support.
In their reply, Marehay lost six wickets in reaching their target as Sam Moulds took 3-40. Kyte also figured with the bat, his knock of 18 being the top score for Marehay. It included two sixes.
This Saturday, Marehay host Sawley and LE Park.
