The students of Heanor Professional Kickboxing Association (PKA) club have brought in another impressive medal haul competing at the association’s annual National tournament.

The team brought home one gold medal, one silver and a bronze from the event at Cocks Moor Wood Leisure Centre in Birmingham which was attended by 215 fighters competing in semi-contact points and light continuous bouts.

Glen Dolphin, 26, from Heanor, took gold in the over 90kg higher grade light continuous category with 44-year-old Mark Jones from Ripley taking silver in under 80kg lower grade light continuous and bronze in the lower grade semi-contact points.

Heanor club instructor Neil Fletcher said: “I’m incredibly proud of Glen and Mark for stepping up to the big stage of the national tournament and showing such skill and control to bring home their very well deserved medals against the best fighters from across association.

“Our normal classes don’t focus on sparring like others do so to apply the skills being taught so well is fantastic.”
