Stainsby Hall CC 1sts suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of visitors Matlock on Saturday in Division One of the Derbyshire County Cricket League.

Matlock won the toss, batted first and scored a decent 224-7 from their 50 overs.

Skipper Kevin Leatherday opened the innings and top scored with 56.

Other decent contributions came from Harvey Hosein with 41 and Edward Lowe with 35.

For Stainsby Hall, Andrew Malia-Barlow took 3-40.

Stainsby Hall then got off to a disastrous start, finding themselves 4-2, and never really recovered.

They were eventually bowled out for just 61 in 37.5 overs.

Only Andrew Malia-Barlow (13) and Matthew Smyth (14 not out) reached double figures.

For Matlock, Chris Pemberton took 3-20 and Ed Lander (4-29) as Stainsby Hall lost by 163 runs.
