Marehay CC 1sts enjoyed a weekend to remember, securing promotion to the Derbyshire Cricket Premier League on Saturday and then beating their nearest challengers in the league - Alfreton - on Monday in the final of the Marston’s Smooth Trophy.
On Saturday, Marehay beat Sawley and LE Park to earn promotion and now must battle with Alfreton over the remaining three games to see who clinches the DCCL Division One title.
Marehay lost the toss and batted first, making 219-9 from their 50 overs.
Opener David Buckley top scored with 44 and there were good contributions along the way from Stephen Lee (36), Jonathan Bradder (27), Matthew Doric (24) and Richard Wood (20 not out).
In reply, Sawley and LE Park were bundled out for just 83 to earn Marehay victory by 136 runs.
Gaz Buckley was the star of the show this time as he took 5-18.
Matthew Doric and Ben Perry-Taylor took two wickets apiece.
Then, on Monday, Marehay beat Alfreton by 53 runs to lif t the Marston’s Smooth Trophy (see above for more from that game).
This Saturday, Marehay are at home to Stainsby Hall in Division One of the DCCL (1pm start).
