Ripley Rangers under sevens have played - and impressed - in a recent tournament.
Over the past two weeks, the under sevens have participated in a mini tournament against teams of a similar standard from the Mansfield Kickstart youth league.
Ripley were placed in the middle group by the league and played a total of eight games over the two weeks, winning five games, drawing one and losing two to top the league table on completion of the competition and win the team’s first trophy in their debut year of playing competitive football.
A great team effort by all squad members and some great individual performances especially in the last game in a must-win match, which Ripley won 2–1, scoring the winning goal in the last minute.
n Ripley Rangers u10s put in a fragmented performance against Beaufort Utd. Despite hard work in defence, including a man of the match performance from Luke Bradshaw, they went down 6–1.
Ripley were behind in the third minute from a corner and despite several chances of their own, through Alfie Quinn and Dalton Smith, they were three down at half-time.
The second half continued much the same with Ripley conceding three more in an eight-minute period before Ben Morris pulled a goal back with a well-taken free-kick.
