Ripley Town FC suffered a second defeat of the Midlands Regional Alliance season on Saturday, going down 5-0 against Stockbrook Rangers.
This was always going to be a tough test against league new boys and table topping Stockbrook, but it was made even harder with Town only being able to turn out 12 fit players with a total of eight players still unavailable for selection.
Ripley however started brightly and forced several good openings but fell behind to a brilliantly crafted goal by the home side on 30 minutes.
Ripley worked hard and stayed in the game until the home side struck a second on 55 minutes and then the floodgates opened.
This is a game Ripley need to forget quickly.
This Saturday (September 6), Ripley make their home debut on the newly prepared pitch at Greenwich against Aston with the game kicking off at 3pm.
