Ripley Rangers Under 10s failed to repeat their previous week’s success over Sherwood Colliery Colts, having to work extremely hard to earn a 3 – 3 draw this time around.
Ripley got off to a terrible start, conceding in the first minute following a corner. Sherwood continued to dominate Ripley and Charlie Willows was forced to make several brave saves. As the first half drew to a close, Ripley pushed forward.
First Todd Wells saw his shot tipped on to the bar and then a second shot hit the post.
The Sherwood keeper had looked unbeatable until two minutes before half-time when Ben Morris produced a top quality finish, lifting his shot over the advancing keeper.
He then went one better when he superbly lobbed the onrushing keeper to give Ripley a 2–1 half time advantage.
The second half saw roles reversed with Ripley dominant but Sherwood scoring two quick goals, one an excellent free kick.
Ripley had to defend well with brave performances from Luke Bradshaw and Man of the Match Charlie Willows.
Time looked to be running out for Ripley when Todd Wells rescued a draw with just two minutes remaining.
The same player then saw his shot tipped over in the very last seconds.
And so a thrilling game ended in what has to be a fair result for both of these closely matched sides.
