There was another impressive display from South Normanton Athletic FC on Saturday as they beat Bilborough Pelican 2-0 in the Central Midlands League.
Two different touches of class separated the two sides.
The first was by Normanton, with sweet passing from the halfway line to the final ball in by Thomas Leighton to Shane Newton, who clinically finished off a brilliant passage of play, from ten yards out on ten minutes.
Pelican were always in the game and came close shaving the post on 15 minutes but it was the Shiners who ended the half in front.
The second half saw a Pelican defender sent off on 48 minutes for crashing into Danny Roberts who was through on goal, then on 58 minutes Thomas Leighton hit the post but the ball bounced off and wide.
Andrew Motteshead was in complete control at the back for South Normanton and the game saw its second touch of class with another goal on 89 minutes, all thanks to a run down the right wing by Danny Roberts, whose cross to super sub Lee Sutton was hammered home from ten yards just inside the right post.
Normanton are away to Real Utd this Saturday with the game kicking off at 3pm.
