TWO goals from Adam Bellamy and another scored by Guy Taylor, secured SHIRLAND MW a 3-1 win and a place in the Solar Press Cup Final at the expense of form team MARLPOOL WHITE LION.
The winners will meet JACKSDALE MW who had a narrow 2-1 win against CODNOR MINERS ARMS in the other semi-final.
Liam Brown gave CRIB FC a first half lead in their midweek tussle at JACKSDALE MW but they were pegged back and had to be content with a 1-1 draw. The home team felt somewhat aggrieved to have been denied three penalty shouts. Brown picked up where he had left off when his side travelled to meet DERBY ATHLETIC at the week-end. He stated his intentions by rattling the crossbar from distance before completing a hat-trick via a headed goal from an Adam Nicholls cross, a tap in and then walking the ball into the net after coolly rounding the goalkeeper. Kev Morrow had given the home side hope after equalising Nicholls’ opener and spurned a couple more gilt-edged chances following uncharacteristic defensive lapses. However, after turning round at the break with a slender 2-1 advantage, Crib dominated the second period. Nicholls added a second goal to his opener whilst Kyle Wadsworth stroked home the rebound after his initial shot had struck an upright. The scoring was completed by substitute Brendan McKenna as Crib completed a 7-1 stroll in the park.
AFC SOUTH NORMANTON beat RAINBOW INTERNATIONAL in a free-flowing, high scoring game that they trailed 1-3 at the break. However, a second half onslaught led by Nathan Comrey who registered a hat-trick was instrumental in turning the game on its head. James Pearce weighed in with a couple whilst Jonnie Hart and a Jay Devlin spot kick rounded off their scoring. Chris Britt (2), Steve McFarland, Nigel Haslam and Justin Fletcher were the visitors’ marksmen as they went down 7-5.
HEANOR STAFF were too good for ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE as Jamie Packard, Tom Smith and Jamie Hind goals contributed to a 3-1 win.
BOUNDARY ATHLETIC concluded their league programme with a 3-2 victory over MARLPOOL UNITED for whom Jonno Webber and Jack Bonser netted. However, goals from Steve Hallam, Sam McDowell and Daniel Noakes were enough to edge them out.
Elsewhere, GALLOWS INN proved just too strong for SEVEN STARS who they beat 4-3.
OUT OF TOWN warmed up for their imminent cup final appearance by dominating their game at BULLS HEAD where they strode to a 5-0 victory; Mike Hollis pointing the way with a hat-trick. Dan Cummins got one and Spencer the other.
