Real United 0
South Normanton Ath. 2
SOUTH Normanton Athletic saw off a determined first half display from the hosts before gaining victory with two second-half strikes.
The Shiners had to work hard as Real started well although both keepers were brought into action a couple of times each in a frenetic, entertaining half for the spectators.
Athletic began the second half better and they took the lead on 47 minutes. A free kick on the right was fizzed into the area and when Real keeper Daniel Argyle produced his only real error of the game in not holding the cross, the ball landed perfectly for Liam Kelly to pick his spot from 12 yards out.
The game flowed nicely until the brilliant Adam Moss wrapped the points up on 75 minutes. He collected the ball on the right, beat one defender, cut between two more and as the space opened up before him, he despatched the sweetest strike into the topposite corner to finish the game as a contest.
Skipper Adam Nicholls went close with a 25 yard effort two minutes later before substitute Luke Crosby sent a fierce 24 yarder just wide.
This Saturday, Athletic are away at Blidworth. Next Wednesday sees a Derbyshire Senior Cup second round home tie against Gresley FC.
