Ambergate FC Reserves turned on the style on Saturday in the second half as they comfortably beat struggling Willington Sports 8-1 in Division Two of the Midlands Regional Alliance and secured their biggest win of the season.
From the start of the game, Ambergate were in total control but the finishing touch seemed to be deserting all the players as chances came and went from Robinson, Linthwaite, West and Milton.
The deadlock was finally broken shortly before half-time as Linthwaite flicked on a Magill throw-in which was headed home from just outside the six yard box by Robinson.
The second half began the same but the finishing significantly improved and the lead was doubled ten minutes into the half as Robinson squared the ball to Milton, who drove the ball into the top corner of the net.
The game was sealed three minutes later when Robinson got his second. Jamie Milton grabbed his second not long after.
Richard West was pushed into a forward role following a substitution and the change paid off as Robinson sent him through on goal to score passed the onrushing keeper.
With less than ten minutes left, Robinson secured his hat-trick as he reacted quickest in the box to a Magill throw-in to drive home.
A couple of minutes later, substitute Dan Newton got on the scoresheet as he tucked the ball home following a lay off from Aston.
Willington got themselves a consolation goal via a speculative shot from 30 yards but shortly before the final whistle it was Ambergate who had the final say as West found Robinson inside the box and he smashed the ball hard and low for his fourth goal of the game.
Tonight (Wednesday), the reserves travel to Wirksworth Town Reserves (6.30pm kick off) before welcoming Melbourne Dynamo Reserves to The Thomas William on Saturday (3pm kick off). The first team travel to Bargate Rovers on Saturday for a local derby, which will be their final game of the season.
