Rare league loss for Clay Cross

It’s been a tough week for Clay Cross Town with a first league defeat in seven last weekend at Harworth Colliery FC.

On chances created, this was a game they could have won three times over.

However, they missed first half chances and went in 2-0 down.

Two quick goals on 61 and 64 minutes deservedly levelled the scoreline up with Gareth Davey striking first before top scorer Rockie White notched the equaliser with a well-placed header.

The sucker punch came with Harworth’s only second half attack seeing substitute Tom Pick break away to score.

The previous midweek had seen Town exit the Derbyshire Senior Cup at Heanor Town 5-1 in a game they were leading in before Julian Capuano was dismissed just before half-time.

This Saturday, Clay Cross return home to Mill Lane to play Phoenix Sports at 2pm.
