Heanor Town 0
There was no way back for Heanor Town in this Derbyshire Senior Cup quarter-final tie after they gave away three goals inside the first 21 minutes at a wet and windy New Manor Ground on Tuesday night.
Clark failed to hold Maguire’s free kick, and Jack Watts tapped home the loose ball after four minutes.
A Holmes tackle seven minutes later allowed Laurie Wilson the opportunity to double the lead from the spot and a deflected Joe Maguire shot on 21 minutes wrongfooted Clarke and compounded Heanor’s woe.
But it wasn’t all one-way traffic Stevenson stung Martin’s hands with a first minute shot, and the goalkeeper went full length to stop a Grayson overhead shot.
Three minutes before the break, new player/manager Hall hammered a vicious low shot just wide.
Dwayne Wiley hit the bar twice with a 52nd minute shot when Martin was lucky not to knock the third rebound into his own net.
Moments later, Aaron Hooton’s shot came back off an upright at the other end.
Cooper-Richards made an impressive solo run but his weak final shot did not trouble Martin. In driving rain, substitute James Reid punished more sloppy Heanor defending on the hour and eight minutes later Jack Reid drilled a low shot from just inside the area beyond the exposed Clark.
Holmes’s second clumsy tackle of the game allowed James Reid to make it six from the penalty spot on 77 minutes, and when the Heanor defence totally failed to deal with a right wing cross to Reid at the far post, his back header was converted from close range by Aaron Hooton to complete the scoring on a night of dismal Heanor defending.
