Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has brought in Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on a month’s loan to cover for the injured Phil Barnes.
Pickford initially joined the Black Cats’ Academy on a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2010.
He has played for Sunderland’s reserves and has also represented England at the Under-17 World Cup in Mexico.
The highly-rated young keeper had a five-month loan spell with Darlington last season and played against the Reds during Alfreton’s 3-1 win over the Quakers in Derbyshire on February 18 last season.
He returned to the Stadium of Light and made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 3-2 friendly win over FC Groningen at the 2012 Peace Cup in South Korea.
Pickford, 18, will be at the Impact Arena until March 26 and will wear squad number 22.
He will make his debut in tonight’s Blue Square Bet Premier Division home game against Hyde FC.
