Jack Lester has revealed the reason behind Ricky German’s early recall from his Alfreton loan spell.
After an initial month on loan with the National League North side, in which he scored three goals, the 18-year-old was due to spend another two months with the Reds.
But last week the clubs announced that he had been recalled to the Proact.
Lester today revealed that medical reasons brought about his return to his parent club.
The manager said: “He had a couple of little issues, not in any trouble, just a couple of issues he needed to see a doctor about.
“He might need to go back out on loan, get some games and then come into contention.
“He needs to go out and play.”
German made a big impression at the Impact Arena, and a statement from Alfreton Town said he was ‘well liked’ by everyone .
Reds boss John McDermott was fulsome in praise of the youngster.
“Ricky was a great addition for us in the time we had him, he showed signs of improvement whilst he was here and was a lovely lad,” said McDermott.
“He brought that extra emphasis we needed up top and the other lads know what we need now.
“It’s a good chance for some of the other lads to step up and make an impact in the final third and Ricky being with us showed we needed something there.
“We wish him all the best in his future career and thank him for his contribution to us.”
