Leisure Leagues - Aldercar and Selston five-a-side leagues latest

In the Selston five-a-side league, The White Lion emphatically defeated Athletico Kebab to move top of the Selston Sunday league on goal difference this week.

Scott Morgan’s usual all action display for White Lion draw praise as he helped his side pull off a superb 14-0 victory. Already after only four games this season both White Lion and Eastley Harriers have opened up a four-point lead over the nearest challenges in third spot.

Eastley’s game this week saw them overcome Mot Mot Motley Crue 5-1 with Paul Meer’s performance enough to earn him the man of the match award.

Matt Davis’ goals helped move his side Horse ad Jockey up into fifth spot after another victory, this time a 7-4 win at the expense of the Inbertweeners whilst Shane Scrimshaw did enough to ensure Notts FC completed a 6-3 victory over Orange Sierra and remain in third spot.

The other game of the evening failed to find a winner as Norfolk In Chance FC and Waingroves played out an entertaining 3-3 draw.

In the Aldercar league, STW Double D produced a remarkable comeback to defeat The Firm 3-2 this week in a win that keeps them a point clear at the top of the Aldercar five-a-side league.

The Firm who before the game were sitting in fourth spot would have seen this as an ideal opportunity to really challenge the teams above them and put themselves right back into title contention.

This showed as some fine opening play saw them go 2-0 up as they looked to be heading for a win, however the second half saw STW find their stride and after pulling level at 2-2 they managed to find a late late winner and seal a thrilling 3-2 victory. Steve Murphy’s excellent performance for STW saw him deservedly awarded the man of the match.

In other highlights of this weeks fixtures, Daz Catterns experience ensured a share of the spoils for his team FC Eastwood as they drew 4-4 with the Youngsters and Old Guy whilst Mack Lads, courtesy of Ryan Straw’s trickery, earned maximum points from their game with Red Army as they won 4-1.
