Have your say

Having won the previous six matches, and sitting third in the league, Codnor faced the leaders Field Lane full of confidence.

Unfortunately, the confidence was soon dashed, when Field Lane scored within three minutes of kick-off.

Codnor soon recovered, creating a number of chances, with Atkin having the best chance when clean through on goal, only to snatch at his chance early.

On 22 minutes, Field Lane extended their lead.

At half-time, with the score at 2-0, Codnor were still in the game, and the next goal was crucial.

Within minutes, a cross was flashed across the Field Lane goal and Nightingale came in at the back post, just short of providing a finish. The chance proved pivotal, when poor marking allowed Howes to get his second of the match.

Webster then got his customary goal to give Codnor the slightest of chances. However, the chance was soon gone, when Howes completed his hat-trick for 4-1.

It was soon 5-1, with poor marking yet again from a corner, before Webster scored a fine solo effort. Hubbard in goal, who had had an excellent game up to this point, saw a free-kick to drift over his head and nestle into the far corner for 6-2, before the rout was completed.

Codnor have four massive games left to achieve their promotion dream. With the return fixture at Field Lane being one of those games, it will be interesting to see how the boys react. Man of the Match went to Nightingale for a determined performance in midfield.
