ALFRETON Town manager Nicky Law says he is happy with the way things are shaping up for the club’s first ever season in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division – despite only making one signing so far.
The Reds boss signed former Altrincham and York City central defender Greg Young last week and is fully expecting to bring at least three more as-yet-unnamed players into the Impact Arena in the next fortnight.
He said: “We have retained 14 of last season’s title-winning squad, brought in Greg Young and we have agreed in principle with three more player targets who we are confident will be joining us. But until everything is signed and sealed I would be a foolish man to announce who we are trying to bring in.
“At the minute, the timing is wrong for us to announce who they are as one of our targets is tied up with a prior arrangement and two are on holiday.
“We are happy with the people who have said they will be coming to us and at the end of the day we are also keeping our options open in other avenues.
“We do have priorities and we have spoken to plenty of people, we will wait and see what happens.”
Law admits there is a need for a few more players of the ilk of Greg Young.
“It is important that we get a couple or three players in who are familiar with the level we are now at. Greg fits that bill.
“He is an experienced player who has come to the club for the right reasons. His experience will be invaluable to the younger members of the squad.”
Supporters should note the season ticket discount deadline of June 30 is now just over three weeks away.
Season tickets are now also available by calling in at the Impact Arena between 10am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday.
There is a later closing time of 6pm on a Thursday and fans can also call in between 10am and noon on Saturday mornings.
l The Reds have added a sixth game to their pre-season schedule and they will make the short trip to Matlock Town on Wednesday, August 3 (7.45pm).
