Late goal keeps the Shiners in second spot

South Normanton Athletic earned a 2-2 draw on Saturday in the Central Midlands League Black Dragon Division - South against Hucknall Town.

A late equaliser from Robert Fretwell was enough to keep the Shiners in second place in the league.

At half-time the scoreline was 0-0 and the game looked set to continue like this with both teams having half chances but nothing to shout about. However, the second half saw four goals. Early in the second half it was Shane Newton who has been in superb form, scoring 15 goals in 18 appearances.

Then Hucknall scored two in 16 minutes, through Eugene Frances on 52 minutes and Leon Aikman on 68 minutes and looked good for their lead until supersub Robert Fretwell fired the ball home on 81 minutes to at least take a deserved point into the next game.

This is against table toppers Bulwell, with the game at Greenwich Avenue, Basford, kicking off at 3pm.
