Alfreton Town under 11s have rounded off a long but successful season in fine style.
They won the Sunday Young Elizabethan League Under 11s Cup and have followed this with victory in a tournament at the weekend in Derby.
The YEL final was played at the Rolls-Royce ground at Hucknall and saw them beat Pelican Colts 3-1, winning four matches to get to the final.
The goals in the final were scored by Kian Parker (two) and Charlie Barlow.
Assistant coach Toby Abbott said: “It’s been a great season. We won the Sunday Division One title and came second in the Saturday Division One. We were also losing finalists in the Saturday under 11s cup.
“They’re a great bunch of lads. They’re willing to learn and also to play. It’s nice to win, obviously, but it’s about having fun too and we think we’ve got the balance about right.
“We’re looking to keep the bunch of lads together as we go up to the under 12s level.”
The team is also pleased to announce a new sponsor for next season, for both Saturdays and Sundays, Barlow’s Butchers of Newthorpe, and would like to thank them for this support.
