Ladies return to action with a win

Little Eaton Ladies 1

Alfreton Ladies 2

Alfreton Ladies returned to action last weekend after the Christmas break with a game away against Little Eaton Ladies.

From the start, both teams were evenly matched but, as the game developed, Alfreton started to gain the upper hand.

On the 14th minute, a nice ball from Maxted put Stevenson through on goal and she put the ball past the Little Eaton keeper to go 1-0 up.

Both teams played some good football up to the half-time interval with Alfreton going in 1-0 up.

In the second half, Little Eaton put Alfreton under a lot of pressure to try and get the equaliser and, in the 64th minute, they broke through a stubborn Alfreton defence and got the goal that enabled them to draw level at 1-1 with just over 20 minutes left to play.

Both teams then pushed for what would turn out to be the winner, creating chances at both ends of the pitch.

Just when it looked like the game was going to be a draw, a pinpoint pass from Dolan was played through for Hall to run onto and, with the Little Eaton defenders closing her down, she slipped the ball past the goal keeper to put Alfreton 2-1 up . Ultimately, this was enough to win the game and end a triumphant return to action.
