Belper Sports under 13s have made a bright start to the season on the field, while off it they are delighted with a new kit sponsorship deal, courtesy of The Marquis of Ormonde, the popular pub and restaurant.
The team currently plays its football in Derby City League Division Three and has just come up from the Derby Mini league, so this is the players’ first year where the games will be 11-a-side and games are on a full side pitch.
And, so far, the team has coped with the change very well, having beaten Shipley 1-0 and St George’s of Derby 5-1 in the first two games.
The team is the latest to be sponsored by the Marquis of Ormonde, based on Codnor Denby Lane.
John Goodhall took over there around 18 months ago as the new landlord and soon undertook extensive refurbishment of the venue.
John also sponsors other local teams Heanor Town Reserves and Langley Mill Cricket Club.
The Marquis Of Ormonde has built up a good name with those looking to dine out, making it a very family friendly and value-for-money place to go. The decor is modern and attractive, the cuisine is tasty and its reputation continues to soar across the area.
