Ambergate FC picked up their first three points of 2013 with a comfortable 7-1 victory against bottom of the league Roe Farm in the Midlands Regional Alliance Division Two on Saturday.
The game was controlled from start to finish and the opening goal should have come earlier than it actually did as Josh Squires hit the post and Richard Clark had a good shot saved.
The opener came on 15 minutes as a wonderful ball over the Roe Farm back four by Sam Hicking was latched onto by Clark, who rolled the ball into an empty net after winning a one-on-one clash with the goalkeeper.
The second came three minutes later as Roe Farm struggled to clear a corner. Jack Ferguson kept the ball in the area and struck a shot which was saved by the ‘keeper but Tom Aston was on hand to tap in.
Roe Farm were punished further a minute later as Ambergate got their third with some great build-up play. Josh Squires was sent into the left hand channel and crossed into the box to Tom Aston who laid the ball off beautifully for Shaun Bestwick to drive the ball into the bottom corner.
Ambergate continued their dominance after the break and scored their fourth after 60 minutes. Neat work again from Tom Aston allowed Clark the chance to strike again.
Gary Conway was involved in the fifth, beating a defender in the area, and shooting. His shot was saved but Sam Hicking was at the back post to put in the rebound.
Good work between Sam Barsby and Darren Boot allowed Hicking to grab his second and Clark sealed his hat-trick with a great individual goal.
This weekend, Ambergate have a big match at Pastures Reserves, starting at 2pm.
The match is to be played at Mickleover Country Park.
