High fives as Sports get off to dream start

Rampant Matlock Sports made a dream start to life in the Matlock & District Football League at the weekend.

Newell, McGuinesss and Talbot netted to dent the early hopes of Chesterfield Town Reserves’, whose noisy fans were even stunned into silence for a spell after 20 minutes.

Chesterfield pulled one back on the half-hour mark, only for Matlock to pin them back with two more goals before half-time to put the score at 5-1 at the break.

Chesterfield came back in the second half the stronger side adding two more goals but this wasn’t enough as the score finished 5-3.

Jamie Morgan’s rocket shot fired Shirland MW to victory as he scored two with against a fantastic Darley Dale side, winning the game 2-1, New boys All Inn FC shared the spoils with another new team Alfreton Athletic involved in an exciting 3-3 draw while Hilcote United could only manage a draw against Chesterfield Town’s first team.
