Heanor sign off with away victory

Worksop Parramore 2 Heanor Town 4

There was a frenetic start to the Lions’ last game of the season, writes Stan Wilton.

Within the first ten minutes, Grayson had shot narrowly over and Stevenson had angled a fierce shot wide.

The 11th minute brought a fine one-handed save from Pannell from the raiding Davis. When play returned to the other end, Barraclough put the home side ahead by ramming home a rebound on 15 minutes.

After this, goalmouth action was less forthcoming but, playing some of their best football of the season, it was Heanor who looked the most likely. Whitehead put in an inch-perfect 44th minute cross and Grayson’s splendid header went in off the inside of an upright. In the second minute of stoppage time, Degirolamo flicked on a cross and the ball entered the net with the assistance of almost the same spot on the upright.

Heanor dominated the second half and went further ahead when Clarke’s free kick was deftly headed home by Dwayne Wiley.

And four minutes later substitute Tom Cooper-Richards was wrestled to the ground when clear on goal by Hernandez, who was sent off. Kyle Bryant’s spot kick put Heanor 4-1 ahead.

Substitute McKenzie cut inside Degirolamo and fired into the top corner with three minutes remaining to make it 4-2.
