South Normanton Athletic drew their Black Dragon Division - South game 0-0 at home to Clifton AW on Saturday.

This game was always going to a tough fixture because South Normanton haven’t played for three weeks and missing their top striker, Ben Greenhalgh who is out with an illness.

However, t the lads got through it thanks to some stout defending.

Both Carters, Roberts, Keenan and Grainger and the keeper, Harvey, were brilliant, the defence dug in for the last 20 minutes and this helped to secure the point for the Shiners.

Clifton did hit the bar twice in the last 20 minutess and Normanton had their chances too, but it was pretty much a bore draw match to watch.

South Normanton are away at Mickleover Royals at the Raygar Stadium on Saturday, with a 3pm kick off.

n The day was also notable for South Normanton Athletic’s Philip Bailey being presented with his prestigious award for winning the national FA Groundsman of the Year Award 2013, for Clubs at Step 7 and Below, a great honour for all of his hard work carried out at the club.
