Goodwill message from overseas Reds’ fans

Alfreton Town’s colours are being proudly displayed by two local sailors currently far from these shores.

Andy ‘Sonny’ Liston from Stonebroom – a friend of Reds’ boss Nicky Law’s son Nicky Junior, currently starring with Glasgow Rangers - sent a request to the club recently for a replica shirt to show off on his travels around the world and the club was only too happy to oblige.

To his amazement, one of his fellow crew members is also a keen Reds’ fan and Callum Toft from Ripley has also been sent a shirt by the club.

The pair are currently serving on HMS Illustrious helping out in the Philippines with disaster relief.

The lads are pictured aboard the ship as they were transiting the Indian ocean towards the Far East and Andy recently declared the pair were “very proud to be help out another country in their hour of need”.

But the boys still had time to send a message of good luck to Alfreton, particularly over the festive period. “We wish the club the best and we hope to see them in action in the New Year,” said Callum.

“On behalf of Andy and myself thank you very much for the replica home shirts that you sent us, it has sparked some envy with our work colleagues. Come on you Reds!”
