The annual Twins With SMA charity day took place last week with a football match, raffle, quiz and games raising over £350 for the cause.

The day, organised by Dave Kinder and Shaun Bestwick, is set up to raise funds for local twins Sam and Alex Bolton, who suffer from Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

The day started with an Ambergate XI taking on the Belper All Stars for the Twins With SMA trophy. The Ambergate XI took the lead after an own goal but the All Stars took control and ran out 7-1 winners with goals from Paul Robinson (two), Shaun Bestwick, Tom Lewis, Richard Briggs, Rob Fretwell and Burhan Hurgaloschi.

The day continued at The Greyhound Inn where All Stars’ captain Marc Sargeant was presented with the trophy by sponsor Jim Power of Power Electrical and Shaun Bestwick was awarded the man of the match trophy by Sam and Alex’s dad Ian Bolton. A raffle was drawn with donations from all the players, as well as Derby County, The White Hart at Duffield, The Ritz Cinema and The Greyhound Inn.

A quiz organised by Dave Kinder was won by Wags + 2, whose team consisted of Jodie Leach, Gemma Robinson, Lauren Robinson, Gemma Cresswell, Kieran Cresswell and Shaun Bestwick.
