Heanor Town FC chairman John McCulloch and secretary Keith Costello attended the Northern Counties East League AGM last weekend.
The pair witnessedthe formality of the Lionsbeing accepted into the competition.
Meanwhile, positive steps have been taken for next season by a group of the club’s fans who have formed a supporters’ club. Six of the supporters attended a recent meeting with the club’s committee and permission was granted for the organisation to be officially recognised.
The organisation will officially be called The 12th Man.
Paul Morley has accepted the position of chairman, with Martyn Meeks vice chairman and Paul Hart secretary. A treasurer has yet to be appointed.
An open meeting for all supporters is taking place in the Heanor Town Social Club on the Town Ground on Tuesday, July 3 at 8pm.
It is hoped that a committee will be formed at this meeting and Rules of Constitution laid down.
The 12th Man will be an open organisation in which everyone can join. There will be a membership fee, but this has yet to be decided and will probably be one of the items on the agenda for the public meeting.
A number of fundraisers are already in the pipeline. The first of which will be a Quiz Night in the Social Club on Friday, July 13, commencing at 8pm to which everyone is invited.
Other events planned are a car boot sale at Charles Hill and a Christmas Fayre on the Town Ground.
