HEANOR Town FC was presented with the Fair Play Award for the 2010-2011 season at the annual meeting of the East Midlands Counties League last week.
Hinckley FC, following a number of disciplinary fines last season and the resignation of their management team to join another club in Leicestershire, have disbanded and will not be in the league for the forthcoming season, while Gedling Town, who were taken over during the course of last season, have disbanded but reformed under the name of Nottingham United FC and will play in the Northern Section of the Central Midlands League next season.
With only Oadby Town relegated from the Midland Alliance and replacing Gresley FC, the East Midlands Counties League looked set to continue with only 18 clubs next season.
But then the Football Association gave permission for third placed Leicestershire Senior League side Blaby & Whetstone, who have the requited G-rated ground for acceptance into the competition, to be promoted.
The season will commence on Saturday, August 13, with the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup competition taking place one week later on August 20.
