Ripley Rangers under sevens picked up their second trophy of a memorable debut season after coming out on top in the Kickstart Under Sevens Tournament.
Ripley were impressive throughout only tasting defeat once in eight games. Ripley had a one-point lead going into the concluding set of ﬁxtures.
In the first match, they beat Beaufort United White 1-0, completely dominating the game.
Aeron Broadhurst showed excellent upper body strength to force his was between two defenders before a composed ﬁnish beyond the advancing keeper.
Ripley never looked like surrendering their lead, Thomas Rankin dominating his penalty area and Jack Langley reading the game well.
Next up was a 0-0 draw against Clipstone, a game where Ripley’s solid defensive attributes were again to prove vital.
The third game was a 1-1 draw with Quarrydale.
Ripley started brightly and scored Ciaran Gillespie rounded the keeper before a sliding ﬁnish.
Finally, Ripley, already crowned champions, lost their last fixtures 1-0 to Shirebrook.
In summary, this was a momentous effort by Ripley only losing one of eight tight games.
Manager John Broadhurst had them well drilled defensively, conceding only four goals which gave Ripley a vital platform. Every member of the squad made a huge contribution and the joyous scenes during the presentation will live long in the memory.
