Normanton Allstars 3

THE final league game of the season saw Codnor go close to ending the 100 per cent winning record of table topping Normanton Allstars.

Normanton took an early advantage of the additional space in midfield.

After only five minutes Dhanoa pounced on a defensive mistake and finished well from close range to put Allstars ahead and minutes later it was 2-0 when Peberdy was left alone in the box to finish after more poor marking.

Midway through the half Codnor created their first chance but Atkin snatched at the shot and it went wide.

Waldron was then played through and after rounding the keeper, his shot went narrowly wide.

Five minutes to the half-time break, a poor pass from Hubbard in goal ended with Dhanoa gifted another goal and Allstars led 3-0 at half-time.

Just into the second half the visitors failed from the penalty spot after which Codnor applied great pressure culminating in Carlin pulling one back with an unstoppable drive into the top corner from 25 yards out.

Codnor created numerous more chances and after a free kick was smacked against the bar by Webster, the clearance was dummied by Parr and Webster smashed in the loose ball from 25 yards.

Further chances for an equaliser were created, Codnor hitting the woodwork and having a late chance cleared off the line. Normanton held on but were made to work every step of the way by a Codnor side who will be looking to replicate their opponents next season. Mom: Oliver Grainger.
