Boss Glen Clarence has accused some of his Heanor Town players of complacency after they were beaten 3-0 by title-chasing Shaw Lane Aquaforce FC.
Goals from Shane Kelsey, Lee Morris and Andrew Fox wrapped up a miserable day for Heanor as Shaw Lane kept up the pressure on leaders Worksop.
Speaking after the game Clarence said: “Nobody likes losing, I hate it. It is time for us to be realistic, Handsworth Parramore and Shaw Lane Aquaforce are strong and experienced, today we simply gave them too much respect and we didn’t have a go. They have four shots on target and scored three of them.”
“The run we had was good, it proved a few people wrong, but some players have become complacent and a feeling comfortable. They didn’t work hard enough today and that is the bottom line.”
Coach Steven Huntington added: “It’s been a difficult week and we’re all a bit down, we expected more out the games and didn’t get it.
“It is difficult to use the bench when you are against two of the best sides in the league. We’ve scored none in the last two games and conceded five, how can we blood young players in these games?”
Heanor will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Bridlington at home on Saturday.
