Awards night rounds off the season for Ambergate sides

Ambergate Football Club held their end of season presentation awards at The Old Kings Head in Belper with the majority of the squad in attendance for the event seeing Josh Squires pick up a number of major awards.

The night began with the players, friends, partners and families getting together for drinks before the awards were presented.

Club chairman Jeff Baldwin began proceedings by giving a brief summary of the season as well as praising a number of individuals within the club for their efforts during the season.

Jeff also presented two ‘Special Recognition’ awards to Abby Wilcoxson for her secretarial duties over the past few years, a role she has recently stepped down from, and Darren Boot for his services to the club since it was re-established in 2008.

Shane Linthwaite received a gift as a thank you for his duties as Treasurer this year.

Jeff Baldwin then went on to present the ‘Clubman’ award to Adam Bannister for his services to the club this season, mainly match day support when injured and kit washing duties, .

The third part of proceedings was for Reserve team manager Matt Butler to introduce the awards for his team following a very impressive season for a reserve team in their first year. These were:

Reserve Team Players Player: Darryl Mason; Reserve Team Manager’s Player: Daniel Mee; Reserve Team Top Scorer: Paul Robinson; Reserve Team Goal of the Season: Rob Gregory (away at Little Eaton Reserves)

The first team awards were presented by David Kinder. There were a number of impressive individual displays throughout the season. The awards were:

First Team Players; Player: Josh Squires; First Team Manager’s Player: Richard Tomlinson; First Team Oppositions Player: Josh Squires; First Team Top Scorer: Josh Squires; First Team Goal of the Season: Josh Catterns (home against Derby Rolls Royce Reserves)

The presentations were concluded with a few other ‘awards’ which were of a lighthearted nature.
